SURFs UP Consortium Gathers in Leipzig for 2-Year Project Meeting

Leipzig, Germany 12-13th May 2026

The SURFs UP consortium met in Leipzig, Germany, on 12–13 May 2026 for our 25-month project meeting, hosted by our partners at DBFZ Deutsches Biomasseforschungszentrum.

After more than two years since the project kicked off in May 2024, this gathering brought together consortium partners for two intensive days of progress reviews, technical discussions, and strategic planning across all work packages. The meeting offered a valuable opportunity to share achievements to date, align on next steps, and strengthen the collaboration within the project.

Beyond the meeting rooms, the consortium enjoyed a guided tour of Leipzig's vibrant city centre, a social dinner, and an inspiring visit to DBFZ's biogas research facilities.

A thank you goes to the DBFZ team for their warm hospitality and seamless organisation of the event.
With the project now well into its second half, the consortium is more aligned and motivated than ever to bring safe, sustainable biosurfactants from second-generation feedstocks to the market.

The project is supported by the Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaking and its members under grant agreement No 101157586 and UKRI grant agreement No 10115826.
