Amiens, France – 14th November 2024
On the 14th of November 2024, the SURFs UP project was featured at Tech Day Coproduits in Amiens, France, an event dedicated to showcasing innovative approaches to the sustainable use of coproducts in the bioeconomy.
Representing the consortium, project coordinator BBEPP (Bio Base Europe Pilot Plant) delivered a presentation on SURFs UP, highlighting its strategic role in transforming underutilised biomass residues, such as lignin, into high-value biosurfactants.
The event gathered experts and stakeholders from across Europe to explore the latest advancements in the extraction and production of functional ingredients and active compounds from renewable sources. BBEPP emphasised how SURFs UP leverages cutting-edge biotechnological processes and industrial symbiosis to support circular and sustainable production pathways.
The presentation aligned closely with the event’s overarching theme, positioning sustainable coproduct valorisation as a new frontier in the evolving bioeconomy landscape. SURFs UP’s innovative approach was well received by participants interested in green chemistry, bioprocess scale-up, and the commercial potential of biosurfactants in various sectors including cosmetics, agriculture, and detergents.
